Abstract
In order to alleviate the traffic conflicts between motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles at intersections, ensure the safety of traffic participants, and improve the operating efficiency of intersections, the paper proposes a design method of color non-motor vehicle waiting area based on slow travel priority. Taking the intersection of Xincheng 2nd Road and Bocheng 3rd Road in Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province as an example, the paper calculates the traffic capacity before and after the setting of the waiting area and uses VISSIM simulation to obtain queuing delays. The results show that after the non-motor vehicle waiting area is set up, the capacity of non-motor vehicle of the East and West entrances of the intersection has been improved, and the queuing delay has been significantly reduced, especially the East entrance.
