Abstract
The influence of music with respect to its types on driver visual and driving performance was studied, which was conducted by carrying the experiments on the platform of a driving simulator. A total of four types music including familiar and unfamiliar music with or without lyric were involved. The visual parameters of the driver were collected by Tobii glasses. The results indicated that: (1) The cognitive load of the drivers is varied under different music background. The influence on cognition load from music with lyric is larger than that without lyric. The maximal load is under familiar music with lyric. (2) Due to the physiology arousal and cognitive load caused by background music, there is no significant difference of fixation duration, driving speed variance and the reaction time to the emergency among the background with different types music and the background without music.
