To fill the research gap of highway interchange design standardization, this paper puts forward the definition and main research ideas of interchange design standardization after analyzing the design standardization of buildings and bridges. Based on the analysis of 94 A type single trumpet interchange design data, this paper determines its standardized model and corresponding standardized parameters, then uses genetic algorithm to optimize the values of some standardized parameters. Finally the standardized recommendation value of the A type single trumpet interchange of the expressway in the plain area was determined and the using method of the recommended value was given. Case analysis shows that it can improve driving safety and reduce the repetitive design of traffic sign, bridge, and culvert layout. Realization of the interchange design standardization lays the theoretical foundation for parametric design, factory production, assembly construction of interchange components as well effective combination with BIM technology in interchange area.
