Abstract
Electric buses (EBs) are gradually replacing fuel buses in transportation system. Previous studies have shown that limited driving range and frequent charging demand because of limited battery capacity could impede the operation of network. This paper aims to improve the efficiency and economy of EB system through the joint optimization of EB network planning and operation. An integer linear programming model is established to determine bus lines, location of charging stations and departure frequency. A hybrid heuristic algorithm combining genetic algorithm (GA), simulated annealing (SA) and neighborhood search (NS) is designed to solve the model. The numerical example verified the effectiveness of the model and algorithm. The calculated results could ensure network operation and overcome the shortcomings of EBs. Moreover, the results of sensitivity analysis provided more appropriate value of construction cost, battery capacity index and power consummation index.
