Abstract
The comparison and selection of high-grade highway reconstruction and expansion engineering schemes is an important part of the reconstruction and expansion engineering design. Whether the scheme selection is reasonable or not directly affects the practicability, economy and technicality of the project. According to the characteristics of the highway reconstruction and expansion project in Guangdong Province, this paper puts forward the principles of index selection for the comparison and selection of reconstruction and expansion projects, and establishes the index system for comparison and evaluation in the reconstruction and expansion projects. Using the relevant theory of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, the index selection and comparison evaluation of highway reconstruction and expansion plans are carried out, and finally the optimal plan is quantified by weighted values. And through the empirical case analysis of the JB expressway in the suburbs of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, the method system proposed in this paper is fully verified, and the conclusions are consistent with the actual recommended plan. The results of this research can provide a reference for the comparison and selection decision of the comparison and selection scheme for the reconstruction and expansion of high-grade highways.

Dr Xiaofei Wang is an associate professor in highway engineering at South China University of Technology. She has a Ph.D. in highway and railway engineering from Tongji University of Shanghai, a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in highway and railway engineering from Chang’an university in Xi’an China. Dr Wang’s active research fields include road space alignment design theory and method, crash prediction models of highway alignment base on big data, Evaluation and management of road safety for new construction/renovation or expansion projections, etc. As Principal Investigator, she has manage over 2 national scientific research projects, 7 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects, and more than 20 technical service or consulting projects commissioned by projects. As a technical director, she has participated in 4 national projects. As a first or corresponding author, she has published over 30 peer reviewed journal articles,  Among them, there are 9 SCI papers and more than 10 EI papers. She has published two monographs. She serves as a reviewer for journals such as Traffic Injury prevention, Journal of Advanced Transportation, China Highway Journal, etc.
