Abstract
In order to appraise the impact of the metro on public transit accessibility and equity, the research has taken the main urban area in Xi'an as the object, constructed a traffic network geodatabase. Then, the OD matrix and equal time-lap method were selected to measure distance-type and area-type accessibility respectively, and to analyze the traffic accessibility and its pattern changes before and after the metro joining. The Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient were made to quantitatively analyze the changes in the allocation of urban road network resources. The results show that the metro enhances the urban public transit accessibility in time costs, sphere of influence, network morphology and so on. An absolute accessibility increase in the peripheral region is larger than that in the central area, which brings about "center expansion & peripheral collapse" pattern change. Meanwhile metro can improve the equity of the allocation of urban road network resources.
