Abstract
Determining the impact of driver monitoring technology on improving risky driving behaviors can help traffic managers understand which the weaknesses of on-board sensors and early warning feedback that need to be improved to promote road traffic safety education and proactive road safety countermeasures and management. This study analyzed the factors that affect trucks driving incidents which are caused by risky distracted driving behaviours of commercial truck drivers, and the driving behavior score were calculated using Entropy weight (EW). The analysis was based on the vehicle networking dataset during naturalistic driving, collected over 6-month period and comprising 81 fleets made by 5396 truck drivers in China. Results showed that nearly 50% of the truck drivers exhibit substantially dangerous driving tendencies, and the extremely dangerous truck drivers (39.25%) was distinctly higher than that of other levle of truck drivers (6.64%~18.34%).
