Abstract
The paper aims to study the multi-ramp coordinated metering on freeway on the basis of pinning synchronization of complex networks. According to the demand of cell transmission model (CTM), three connection patterns were characterized for the concrete section on expressway, including the basic section, confluence section, and distributary section. A node coupling model of freeway was established based on theory of synchronization. The pinning controller was designed to realize the network synchronization, the inlet ramp of the control node corresponded to the input control signal. Parameter values of controller were concluded by the stability theory of complex networks. Besides, controlling effects were discussed by simulation experiments in the concrete freeway. The results indicate that the traffic jam can be suppressed farthest; total travel time (TTT) can be deduced; the flux can be enhanced by the proposed pinning coordinated metering strategies. The operation efficiency is more efficient than the traditional methods of coordinated control.
