The water electrolysis in 20wt.% KOH solution was carried out under a magnetic field ranging from 0 to 0.8T. Two platinum sheets (10mm*10mm) placed opposite each other were used as the cathode and anode, and silver-silver chloride electrode was used as the reference electrode. The magnetic field direction was perpendicular to the surface of the platinum electrode. Then, a time-dependent simulation model of single-bubble two-phase flow was established, and Lorentz force was applied as volume force to investigate the bubble growth and desorption process. The shape and desorption time of the bubble under different magnetic fields was compared. The experimental results show that the magnetic field enhances the current, and at the same potential, the current increases as the increase of the magnetic flux density. Numerical simulation results show the influence of the micro-MHD effect on the bubble and explain the experimental results.
