In scientific experiments, data acquisition is an important task. Collected data are used for two main purposes, one for real-time control and the other for data archiving for subsequent analysis. Current mainstream acquisition devices, where the process of data acquisition and transmission is done by software, have problems such as large latency and timing uncertainty. In order to solve these problems, an acquisition device that can transfer data in real time with low latency via Ethernet is designed. The host computer reads data from the acquisition device via Ethernet, and the acquisition device publishes data directly to synchronous databus network in real time via FPGA without going through operating system. The acquisition device also supports remote direct memory access technology, i.e. RDMA, which can move data directly from the acquisition device to the memory of remote system without any impact on operating system.
