Abstract
With the continuous advancement of lightning characteristics observation and research, the characteristics of one breakdown and multiple discharges exhibited by lightning have been paid attention to by many experts in international lightning protec-tion and related fields. Standards such as CIGRE TB 549 and IEC-62305-1 also give recommended waveforms for contin-uous lightning impulse. The time interval between multiple impacts of lightning is between hundreds of microseconds to hundreds of milliseconds. In such a short period of time, the impact of continuous multiple impacts on the dispersion pro-cess of the soil medium is more complicated and serious than the traditional single impact. The continuous impulse discharge characteristics of equipment or dispersive media have become a research hotspot at this stage. However, in the field of re-search on the impact characteristics of grounding systems, there are few studies considering the effect of continuous inrush current. This article intends to carry out the impulse discharge and observation experiments of the grounding device and the soil medium under the action of continuous impulse current under the soil type and electrode type based on the typical local structure of the centralized grounding body such as the pole tower grounding device. The characteristics of attenuation and recovery of continuous impulse discharge and subsequent voltage rise are obtained through experiments.
