Abstract
Routine transformer oil reclamation is a critical measure to sustain the needed excellent quality and performance of insulating liquid, yet suffers from its limited capability in oil decontamination. It is highly desirable to develop efficient separation membrane materials with excellent elimination competence to acidic pollutants at micron- and nano- scales. Here, we report a simple but efficient filtration material, an electrospun polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)/Barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanofibrous membrane sandwiched by polypropylene supporting layers. The incorporation of BaTiO3 nanoparticles enabled enhanced charge stability of PVDF nano-membrane, conducive to removing impurities. At optimized BaTiO3 doping content (10 wt.%), the obtained membrane achieved 60.6% and 48.6% elimination of moisture and acids, respectively, a 33.4% reduction in dielectric dissipation factor, and a 64.1% boost in breakdown voltage of old transformer oil.  This approach offers new insights for applying of the electrospinning technique in the high-performance filtration membrane for service-aged transformer oil reclamation.
