Abstract
The galloping of the overhead conductors under the excitation of strong wind due to their irregular shapes after icing is a large-scale, low-frequency random vibration. The galloping of the icing overhead conductors often causes serious damage to the transmission lines, ranging from phase-to-phase short-circuits of the conductors to breaking the lines or even pulling down the tower poles, which will pose a serious threat to the safe operation of the power system. In this paper, the line after icing is simulated and analyzed by using the finite element analysis software, and the variation laws of displacement of conductor and maximum stress on conductor under different icing thicknesses, different wind speeds and different wind direction angles are obtained. The results show that under certain conditions, the icing thickness, wind speed and wind direction angle have effects on displacement of icing conductor and maximum stress on icing conductor during galloping. Attention should be paid to these factors when carrying out anti-dancing work on 10kV icing overhead lines.
