Abstract
Purpose/Aim
With the rapid development of green power grid, polylactic acid(PLA) is widely used in power systems as a polymer material with good mechanical properties and biodegradability. However, due to the high molecular activity of PLA molecules and the complex working conditions of power grid operation, the influence of heat treatment at different temperatures and times on the dielectric properties of PLA is very important .
Experimental/Modeling methods
In this paper, an experimental method of continuous heating under different temperature conditions of 70°C-130°C is designed to study the autonucleation behavior of PLA, and the crystalline samples are observed by FTIR, XRD, AFM and other equipment.
Results/discussion
PLA after heat treatment below 70℃ because the treatment temperature was below the glass transition temperature, the entire chain segment could not move and could not be arranged into an ordered structure, and the dielectric properties of PLA decreased with the increase of heat treatment time; Under the heat treatment of 70℃-100℃, the first crystallization into α' unit cell and then to the solid state transformation of α leads to the detection of an exothermic peak before the main melting peak, and the dielectric properties rises first and decreases with the increase of the temperature of the heat treatment; The dielectric strength of polylactic acid at 100℃-120℃ reached the highest at 110℃, and it is speculated that the unit cell structure of PLA under heat treatment at 110℃ is transformed, from α unit cells to molecular chain conformation disorder, loose chain stacking, and weak intermolecular interaction force of metastable α' crystals.
Conclusions
By controlling the temperature of the heat treatment within the autonucleation temperature range to observe the change of the proportion of the peak, the dielectric properties of PLA is analyzed to provide a theoretical basis for its practical application in polymers.
