Abstract
Purpose/Aim
In order to solve the serious influence of camera field distortion on the results in the current measurement method of speed characteristics of high voltage circuit breaker based on machine vision under different working conditions, and greatly improve the stability of target point recognition and tracking.
Experimental/Modeling methods
The high-speed image sequence of the movement of the operating mechanism of the circuit breaker is obtained by high-speed camera. In the process of image processing, Zhang Zhengyou calibration method is introduced into the correction process of camera field distortion;      A fast matching algorithm for image corner feature tracking is introduced in the location of target points.
Results/discussion
Through multiple experiments on the 220kV high-voltage circuit breaker, the opening and closing speed characteristic curve of the circuit breaker can be obtained in no more than 30 minutes. The calculated opening speed is about 8m/s  and the closing speed is about 5m/s .  Compared with the measurement results of the speed sensor, the error is less than 6%,  the measurement time is reduced by 50%.
Conclusions
The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper is simple and easy to meet the requirements of accuracy and convenient for field measurement. It provides technical support for the application of machine vision in the measurement of speed characteristics of high voltage circuit breaker, which will greatly improve the work efficiency of high-voltage circuit breaker maintenance personnel.
