Abstract
The composite insulating cross-arm has the excellent properties of composite materials, as well as a series of outstanding properties such as anti-pollution flashover, anti-bird damage, and low manufacturing and use costs. At present, most of the 10kV composite cross-arm in the distribution network were standardized based on the 80m line span. In some mountainous areas, it was found that due to the changeable terrain, frequent lightning strike failures and bird damage failures, the existing design conditions did not meet the application requirements of the region, the line span was greater than 80m. In this paper, the wire selection and load calculation of typical large-span of distribution lines are carried out, and the load conditions and cross-arm indexes are comprehensively analyzed. On this basis, a composite insulation cross-arm type suitable for large-span lines is proposed. The mechanical and electrical properties of the large-span composite insulated cross-arm are tested and verified, and conclusions and suggestions are given to improve the reliability of power distribution in mountainous areas and other areas where large-span lines are used.
