Abstract
A space charge may be generated when an insulating material is subjected to a high voltage. It may distort the electric field and degrade insulation performance. The pulsed electrostatic method for space charge measurement applies a pulsed voltage to a solid insulator and detects acoustic response due to the interaction between the charge and pulsed electric field. Position and magnitude of the charge are determined by the time domain signal. We propose a new method for acquiring a reference signal for calibration to convert the signal to charge intensity.
