Abstract
UHVDC converter station is the key position of UHVDC power system. Once lightning damage accident occurs, it may cause large-area power outage and have a very serious consequence. Therefore, UHVDC converter station requires reliable lightning protection measures. At present, the electrical distance between AC side arrester and protected equipment in UHVDC converter station has not been standardized, so it is necessary to check whether the lighting arrangement scheme of the ± 800kV UHV converter station is reasonable. In this paper, for the AC side incoming section of Baihetan ± 800kV UHV converter station, there is a long distance between the shunt reactor and the AC side incoming section of the converter station. Firstly, the lightning intruding wave overvoltage on the equipment on the AC side of UHVDC converter station under preliminary arrester layout scheme will be given by simulation. Secondly, the lightning intruding wave overvoltage on the equipment on the AC side of UHVDC converter station under improved arrester layout scheme when the shunt reactor under operation will be given by simulation. Thirdly, the lightning intruding wave overvoltage on the equipment on the AC side of UHVDC converter station under improved arrester layout scheme when the shunt reactor out of operation will be given by simulation. The research results will provide data support for the optimal layout of lightning arresters in AC Side Incoming Section of Baihetan ± 800kV UHV Converter Station.
