Abstract
Intelligent transportation system (ITS) keeps evolving under the influence of new technologies and new demands, which leads to autonomous transportation system (ATS) becoming the development trend of future transportation. To the better guidance of planning and construction of ATS, research on the physical architecture of ATS is carried out. By the conclusion of Sino-American existing physical architecture framework, it is found to be some problems such as weak theory, lack of connections and complex construction procedure. In the following manuscript, a theoretical model called physical object (PO) is proposed based on the transportation entity. Then considering the existence modes and connection characteristics from PO, intrinsic attribute and connection attribute are designed. The former explains what a PO is and what it does, and the latter describes the incidence relation between POs. Finally, the construction method of PO is introduced according to the class of PO. In the end, taking the traffic status information service as an example, the physical architecture of the service is constructed, which verifies the effectiveness of the theoretical method.
