Abstract
In this paper, we present an optimization model to address the allocation problem for one-way electric carsharing system. The proposed model is a linear mixed-integer program with the objective of maximizing the total profit which involves all incomes and costs in an electric carsharing system. In particular, the profit is formulated as the mathematical expectation of a discrete random variable, which allows for a comprehensive consideration of all possible future demands. A linear solution method is applied to obtain the global optimal. At the end, the model is validated using real data from 20 electric carsharing stations. The results indicate the daily improvement of profit could be as high as 21.5% with an average of 15.72%.
