Pyrolytic carbon black is one of the main products of waste tire pyrolysis, but its high ash content and poor quality lead to its low economic value. In recent years, the preparation of waste tire pyrolysis carbon black into adsorbents with high economic value is one of the research hotspots to improve its reuse value. The discharge of arsenic-containing wastewater seriously endangers human health, and an economical, green and efficient arsenic removal process is urgently needed. Adsorption method is an ideal arsenic removal technology with the advantages of simple operation, environmental protection and high efficiency. Adhering to the concept of "waste control waste", this study explored a new utilization way of waste tire pyrolysis carbon black as an adsorbent to purify arsenic-containing wastewater. The results show that the adsorption effect of pure waste tire pyrolysis carbon black on As(V) is not good, so it is necessary to modify the pyrolysis carbon black to improve its adsorption performance. For this purpose, a low-cost Fe-modified pyrolytic carbon black was prepared, which can reduce the initial concentration of 4.98 mg/L simulated wastewater containing As(V) to less than 0.1 mg/L after adsorption treatment, and the removal rate of As(V) reached 98%, which involves various mechanisms such as adsorption and chemical precipitation.
