Abstract
This paper reported the observation of some sprites and halos captured over the South China Sea on August 28, 2021, and both negative and positive sprites occurred in the same thunderstorm but in different areas. The negative strokes dominated during the thunderstorm period, and the average multiplicity was 2.5934 strokes per flash. Moreover, the two representative observations discussed in this paper was shown that both of magnetic field strength and CG stroke peak current cannot determine whether sprite can be produced. But it was evident that the continuous charge transfer during the causative stroke can not only maintain the continuous luminescence of sprite elements but also may contribute to the vertical development and enhanced luminescence of later sprite elements by comparing the magnetic field waveforms.
