Phthalate esters (PAEs) are widespread in indoor environment as a kind of pollutants, which have negative impacts on human health. They mainly enter the human body through different external exposure routes to interfere with human metabolism, and spread to various organs of human body through the medium of blood. To explore the phthalate transfer mechanism in blood, a vascular mass transfer model of PAEs was proposed in this study, which considered the loss and accumulation of PAEs caused by adsorption characteristics in blood transfusion. The effects of different types of vessels and compounds, gender and age on the loss of PAEs were quantitatively analyzed by using the model. Results show that the loss of PAEs in major vessels can reach more than 10%, which cannot be ignored. Besides the metabolic effects in organs and tissues, health problems caused by accumulation of PAEs should also be considered.
