Measurement of Spatiotemporal-coupling-aberration for a Single-shot Ultra-fast and Ultra-intense Laser Pulse

In a large-scale ultra-fast and ultra-intense laser system, with the increase of spectral bandwidth and beam aperture, the spatiotemporal-coupling-aberration would become more and more significant, which means that there are different temporal properties (such as pulse width, pulse shape, relative delay etc.) for the different parts within the laser beam cross-section.

This effect could not only decrease the beam quality and reduce the focusing intensity, but more importantly, it could make some commonly-used measurement methods ineffective, which might lead to invalid experimental parameters be provided.

The high-confidence measurement of spatiotemporal coupling distortion is urgently needed in this field. As for the ultrafast and ultra-intense laser with high energy and low repetition rate, it is necessary to realize the measurement with a single-shot pulse. A method based on Carrier-Frequency-Distinguished Spectral-Holography is introduced in this presentation, which is proposed by our team and can be used to measure the (2+1)D spatiotemporal field distribution of an ultra-fast and ultra-intense laser pulse. In addition, it can also be expected to apply in some other fields for transient process detection or special-structured-light-field construction.
