High precise time division multiplex UV pulse waveform measurement system for high power laser facility

In high power laser facility, the waveform measurement of UV pulse injected to target is very important for power balanced control and experiment result analysis. A time division multiplex UV frequency modulation pulse waveform measurement system based on fiber bundle and lens array is built for a high precise measurement result as well as low construction and maintaining cost. The system can remarkably improve coupling efficiency inject to fiber contribution to the aperture splicing sampling technology and a 50μm multi-mode UV fiber specially developed with 9.2GHz bandwidth@60m transmission. With this scheme, the coupling efficiency using 3*3 lens array and 50μm core diameter fiber can be 38.14% and extremely higher than traditional single lens coupling with single mode fiber.

An actual “four-in-one” time division multiplex measurement system is manufactured for verifying the scheme. In this system, four fiber bundles are used for time division multiplex and the experiment indicated that all four waveform measurement from fiber bundles are identical to the measurement result focusing all over the near-field. This result certify that the scheme not only have a good economic efficiency and anti-interference performance but also get a fidelity measurement over the near-field. The system developed meet all current specification needed of UV frequency modulation pulse waveform measurement and has worked for three year on high power laser facility. The research significantly support the pulse waveform measurement in giant high power laser facility design and construction.
