Wave and turbulent magnetic field measurements in laser-produced plasmas with ion radiography using solid-state nuclear track detectors and informatics

We have experimentally investigated space and astrophysical phenomena using high-power lasers, such as collisionless shocks [1,2] and magnetic reconnections [3,4]. Magnetic fields in the universe as well as in laboratory plasmas are an essential factor governing the phenomena, yet it is challenging to measure the vector magnetic field in three dimensions. Ion radiography is a standard diagnostics for magnetic field measurement in laboratory plasmas. We use graphene and solid-state nuclear track detectors as a target and detectors, respectively, for laser-driven ion beams [5,6]. By implementing machine learning on ion pit analyses, we obtain a number of ion data to reconstruct vector electric and magnetic fields in three dimensions in laser-produced plasmas.
