In order to solve the problems of high reaction temperature, high energy consumption and high operating costs of ultra-low concentration coal mine gas (ULCMG) oxidation technology, two innovative approaches and a new device are proposed. The methods of “mixing to increase energy” was introduced, which can supplement the heat required for ULCMG oxidation reaction by mixing combustible gas or coal dust. In addition, a two-channel ULCMG oxidation burner was designed based on inexpensive coal dust heating. This burner combines thermal and catalytic oxidation technologies by igniting coal dust, which is burned and exothermic. The generated heat is then transferred and stored in the ceramic to provide further heat to the ULCMG oxidation. At the same time, the small amount of catalyst loaded on the ceramic surface reduces the reaction temperature of the ULCMG while the reaction heat is again retained in the ceramic, ultimately leading to self-sustaining operation of the device.
