This paper proposed a safety assessment method for 500kV transmission tower under foundation erosion by river water based on water level, geological survey, and finite element mechanical calculation. The displacement of the transmission tower foundation has been analyzed, and the main causes of the tower deformation have been summarized. The 1:1 refined finite element model of transmission tower-line system has been established, and the tower deformation and stress of different beam types of the transmission tower have been analyzed. Results show that the rapid drop of the water level and uneven slip of foundation are the root causes of the inclination of the tower, and beams near the first transverse diaphragm and C-leg of the tower bear greater stress.
