The gear pump is not only the power source of the fuel control system, but also a component that is prone to malfunctions. Therefore, Fault mechanism modeling is of great significance to gear pump fault monitoring and product structure optimization. To address this issue, a broken tooth failure model of gear pump is established to monitor its health state. Firstly, based on the gear geometry model, we analyzed the volume variation of the control volume of the gear pump caused by the broken tooth in the inlet, outlet and meshing area. Secondly, based on the Euler method, the abrupt variation of the control volume caused by the broken tooth fault is brought into the pressure pulsation equations of the gear pump to realize the modeling of the broken tooth fault. Finally, the proposed method is verified on the fuel system fault simulation test bench, and the experimental results show that it reveals the mechanism of increasing pressure pulsation caused by broken teeth of gear pump.
