Considering the Gidaspow, the Wen-Yu, and the Syamlal-O'Brien drag model, herein, the Computational Fluid Dynamics-Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM) coupled numerical simulation method is adopted to study the influence of different drag models on the numerical simulation results of gas-solid two-phase flow characteristics in a coarse particle fluidized bed. Bed expansion rate, local bed pressure drop, and particle bubbling characteristics at different inlet gas velocities are determined by numerical simulation and experiment. Results show that the three drag models can reproduce the particle fluidification process. The bed expansion rate simulated by the Gidaspow drag model is the closest to the experimental results. The Wen-Yu drag model has more advantages in the simulation of local pressure drop and fluctuation of the gas phase, and the intensity of gas-solid two-phase motion predicted by this model is the gentlest compared with the other two drag models. Therefore, the Gidaspow drag model is more suitable for simulating the motion state of particles, whereas the Wen-Yu drag model is better for simulating the gas phase parameter fluctuation.
