Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is a special EM mode, which interacts between electrons and photons in the optical region. In order to introduce the SPPs into microwave or terahertz band, spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) was proposed by researchers, which inherits most of the advantages of SPPs in the terahertz and microwave bands. Based on the higher-order modes and space harmonic theory of the SSPP, the fast waves can be excited and radiate into free space toward different directions, operating as a frequency beam scanning antenna which scans from backward to forward directions as the frequency increases. In this paper, we will introduce some novel frequency beam scanning antennas based on SSPPs, which have a small size, wide bandwidth, wide-angle, and high-scanning-rate performance
