Abstract
Based on the perspective of digital economy-enabled energy industry development, this paper explores the impact of digital economy development on China's green total factor energy efficiency and its path. China's inter-provincial panel data from 2011 to 2022 are selected to measure green total factor energy efficiency with the EBM-GML model, and the impact of the digital economy on green total factor energy efficiency is analyzed with static and dynamic panel models, and the impact path of digital economy's technological effect is analyzed with energy efficiency decomposition and threshold model. The results of the study show that the digital economy has a positive "U"-shaped nonlinear direct effect on green total factor energy efficiency. Indirect impact analysis shows that there is a significant double threshold effect of technological innovation on both energy technology efficiency and energy technology progress, and with the increase of technological innovation, the digital economy has a different degree of promotion effect on energy technology efficiency, and a positive "U" type impact on energy technology progress, which is inhibited and then promoted. Further analysis of the spatial Durbin model reveals that the digital economy has a non-linear spatial spillover effect on green total factor energy efficiency and that there is regional heterogeneity and differences in resource endowment.
