The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of Salt-mist and vibration operating circumstances on electrical control and auxiliary circuits of a spring operating mechanism. Four kinds of commonly used electrical control and auxiliary circuit components in the spring operating mechanisms are used, which include the opening coils, the relays, the auxiliary switches, and the terminal connectors. Experimental results showed complex degradation mechanisms. The findings highlight significant increases in contact resistance over salt-mist aging cycles. Vibration aging exacerbates these effects. The study emphasizes the critical necessity for robust mitigation strategies to bolster the reliability of the CBs in complex operating circumstance.
