Abstract
The Inertial Electrostatic Confinement (IEC) fusion facility is a small device for fusion. It can be used as one of the alternative technologies for future nuclear power generation and is also used as a strong current neutron source in many fields. However, the traditional IEC has many fundamental difficulties, such as the melting and corrosion of the wire grid cathode, the very low Q value and so on. We first analyzed the causes of these problems, and then a new type of inner ion source IEC is proposed to decrease the ion loss during the constraint process, and to solve the cathode melting. At the same time, the vacuum can be improved to increase the Q value of IEC. The ion motion in IEC is very complicated. Through numerical simulation, the anisotropic motion trajectory of ions can be obtained, which proved the possibility of the solving the melting and corrosion of the wire grid cathode.
