Abstract
The study of the interaction between highly charged ions and dense plasmas is of great significance for energy transport in ion beam driven fusion reactions, rapid ignition of ion beams, and self-sustaining combustion of fusion targets, and so on. In the medium and low energy region, there are few related experiments, and there is a lack of understanding of the charge exchange mechanism and energy deposition laws in the interaction, which is due to the strong coupling between ions and plasma in this energy region. In this work, we have constructed an experimental setup for the research on interaction between helium ions and hot dense laser-produced Al plasmas, based on the 320 kV experimental platform at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, IMP-CAS). The charge state and energy loss are obtained by using a high-performance ion measurement system.
