Magnetic pulse compaction (MPC) is an effective method for preparation of high-performance materials because of its high compaction energy and good controllability. This paper reports the densification behavior of Sm2Co17 magnetic powder under MPC. The simulation model of the MPC device was set up, and the acceleration process of the drive plate under the action of electromagnetic force was studied. The optimum process parameters of Sm2Co17 MPC were explored, and the influences of the impact energy, filling amount of magnetic powder and the acceleration distance of stamping module on compact density were studied. When the initial energy storage was 8 kJ, the filling amount of magnetic powder was 3 g, and the acceleration distance of the stamping module was 50 mm, the peak pressure of 3.02 GPa was achieved. At room temperature and without sintering, the compact with the relative density of 88.21% was obtained.
