Abstract
The pulsed magnets for 80 T and above are usually designed as a multi-coil structure, the pulsed magnetic field generated by the outer and internal coils coordinate on time to superimpose a high-peak magnetic field.
Compared with generating short-pulsed magnetic fields, in the usual operation mode of the multi-coil pulsed magnet, the pulse width and the peak magnetic field zone of the outer coil are wider, correspondingly bearing the huge electromagnetic stress for a longer time, and the temperature rises more. However, stress maintenance and temperature variation may affect the mechanical properties of conductors.
In this paper, the creep behavior of the CuCrZr wire, which is used for winding the outer coil, is tested under several stresses. Then, the stress-strain curve at multiple temperatures is tested. Finally, a small magnet wound with the wire is tested through repeated discharge at different voltage levels, and its inductance variety is analyzed.
