Abstract
Cable factory joints play a key role in XLPE submarine cable system. Nevertheless,XLPE interface has the lowest mechanical strength in the insulation layer, which will lead to the insulation crack or pore defects formation, even breakdown faults. In this work, a crosslinking agent modification method for XLPE bilayer interface mechanical strength enhancement was studied on both tablet compressing samples and real factory joints. The results show that crosslinking agent modification have the effect on XLPE interfacial mechanical strength enhancement and reduce pore defects formation.
