Abstract
This paper proposes a conveniently expandable wireless charging system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that ensures the efficiency of charging under cluster working. Firstly, unit-coupling module is proposed, providing a basis for wireless power transfer (WPT) of UAV Cluster. Then, the circuit topology structure is designed and analyzed. The transmitting coil selection strategy and compensation circuit maximize the stability of the system output. Finally, a prototype consisting of two UAVs and three transmitters is constructed. Experimental results indicate that under cluster operations, the system can maintain an output voltage of around 82V, with individual power of over 489W. In the case of random landing position, the DC-DC efficiency varies from 81% to 89%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed system for wireless charging of UAV cluster.
