Abstract
In dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) systems, the rapid change of coupling when the receiver coil moves from one segmented transmitter coil to another may cause current overshooting or transient oscillations during the segment switching process, especially in high-speed scenarios. In this paper, these segment-switching phenomena in DWPT systems are investigated and explained in detail. The large-signal and small-signal model of a two-segmented-transmitter DWPT system is established first. The transient characters of the DWPT system under various receiver speeds and various circuit parameters including load conditions, resonant frequencies, and resonant inductors, are shown and explained. The results are validated by the comparison of the theoretical analysis and the simulation.
