Abstract—Traditional PI speed controllers are prone to overshoot and oscillation under load changes, speed variations, and external disturbances, which compromises system stability. Thus, this paper investigates the Model-Free Adaptive Control (MFAC) to obtain a superior control. MFAC, with its single-input single-output architecture, provides advantages such as a simple structure and rapid response capability. The partial-form dynamic linearization MFAC (PFDL-MFAC) scheme was proposed to achieve high-performance speed tracking for PMSM systems. Simulation comparisons with traditional PI control schemes and the compact form dynamic linearization MFAC (CFDL-MFAC) approach validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed PFDL-MFAC scheme.
