Abstract
In laser-driven inertial confinement fusion (ICF) research, laser irradiation uniformity is crucial to achieve ignition and high gain. This study presents a systematic optimization framework for irradiation uniformity of polar direct drive (PDD). Firstly, a computational platform was developed to calculate irradiation intensity profiles on a spherical target through superposition of 16 azimuthally distributed beams with 3th order super-Gaussian intensity profiles, enabling quantitative evaluation of irradiation uniformity σrms under multi-parameter constraints. Furthermore, under the constraints of different Continuous Phase Plate (CPP) component combinations, we established a multi-dimensional constrained optimization framework incorporating capsule radius, inner-cone beam energy, and pointing shift. The irradiation uniformity was optimized by simulated annealing algorithm. Finally, the Monte Carlo method is introduced to systematically quantify the sensitivity of capsule positioning errors, pointing errors, and laser power imbalance to σrms.
