Abstract
During the operation of industrial equipment, acoustic signals contain rich information about system states. Spatial localization of these signals can assist in equipment condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. This paper proposes a dual-microphone sound source localization method based on the State Transition Algorithm (STA). The method first calculates the time-varying time difference of arrival (TDOA) curves of the dual microphones during rotation using the Generalized Cross-Correlation with Phase Transform (GCC-PHAT) algorithm, and estimates the azimuth and elevation angles of the sound source at the peak instants in combination with the array’s spatial positions. Subsequently, a residual function is constructed from multiple sets of TDOA data, and STA is employed for global optimization to achieve stable and high-precision sound source azimuth estimation. Simulation results demonstrate that the method can accurately localize industrial equipment sounds, with an average azimuth error of approximately 0.01° and an average elevation error of approximately 0.31°, confirming the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach in sound source localization.
