Abstract
As the inverse process of the photoelectric effect, inverse Photoemission is a crucial physical process for analyzing the unoccupied electronic structure of materials. Based on the reverse deduction of the three-step theory of photoemission, this paper systematically elaborates on the basic principles of Inverse Photoemission, constructs a three-step physical model that includes photon generation by electron incidence, photon transport, and photon escape at the interface, and employs the Monte Carlo numerical simulation method to conduct quantitative analysis of each stage.The probability of photon excitation by electrons is calculated using the bremsstrahlung differential cross-section. Combined with random sampling, the photon transport trajectory and energy loss are simulated. The Fresnel equations and critical angle criterion are applied to analyze the laws of interface reflection and refraction. Simulation results of 100,000 electrons show that the probability of emitted photons is stable and consistent with the data reported in existing literature, which verifies the reliability of the proposed model. This study provides a theoretical and simulation framework for the research on the unoccupied electronic structure of materials.
