Abstract
This study investigates the effects of near-wall flame quenching on wall heat flux during flame-wall interaction (FWI) in turbulent channel flows, based on direct numerical simulations (DNS) of premixed hydrogen-air V-shaped flames at friction Reynolds numbers Reτ=180 and 400. Results show that at Reτ = 400, flame quenching statistically occurs farther from the wall due to stronger turbulence, resulting in a lower wall heat flux compared to the Reτ = 180 case. In general, the local fuel consumption rate exhibits a positive correlation with wall heat flux. However, joint probability density function (PDF) analysis reveals that this relationship does not follow a single functional form, and the observed variability is primarily attributed to differences in local flame-wall geometrical configurations.
