Thomson scattering can provide precise density and temperature measurements in various plasma physics experiments. Here, optical collective Thomson scattering measurements from ns-laser heated helium have been used to explore the equilibration of electron and ion temperatures. This experimental relaxation process of electron and ion temperatures in helium plasma has been demonstrated by theoretical simulation.
