Conducting high energy density (HED) physics research using high-energy heavy ion beams offers unique advantages, particularly regarding the spatial uniformity of extreme matter, controllability of states, and experimental repetition rates. These features enable scientists to perform higher-precision investigations into the properties of HED matter. While China's upcoming High-Intensity Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF), established under the 12th Five-Year Plan, will provide the essential high-energy, high-intensity heavy ion beams required for such studies. Consequently, carrying out preliminary research using the existing Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) holds significant value and provides critical reference data.

Our team has conducted the preliminary experiments at HIRFL involving high-energy heavy ions interacting with various solid targets. We measured the emission spectra, ion tracks, and induced crystal color center variations inside the external magnetic fields. Furthermore, we analyzed the relationship between nuclear reaction yields and magnetic field strength, observed changes in surface nano-tracks of materials, and utilized plasma devices to preliminarily explore magnetic field dynamics. These efforts lay a substantial foundation and offer vital guidance for future high-power heavy ion beam experiments planned for the HIAF facility.

More details and results will be presented in this conference report.
