Abstract
Accurate characterizing the energy deposition of charged particles in plasmas is a fundamental problem at the intersection of atomic and plasma physics, with critical implications for advanced research in inertial confinement fusion and astrophysics. Conventional energy loss frameworks, such as approaches based on Lindhard model and linear response theory, are highly successful in weakly coupled plasmas, but systematically fail in the strongly coupled regime. In such extreme states, significantly enhanced many-body interactions and strong ionic coupling render the linear approximation invalid. As the coupling strength increases, the spatial correlation between ions becomes significantly stronger, and the system exhibits distinct liquid-like short-range order and localized ionic arrangement. To address these limitations, we have developed an energy deposition model specifically designed for the ionic one-component plasmas. By incorporating static structure factors derived from molecular dynamics simulations and analytical parameterizations, our model systematically accounts for the strong coupling effect among ions. Our theoretical predictions show consistent agreement with molecular dynamics simulation data in both the overall trends and specific characteristic features for the static structure factors and stopping power. This strong consistency confirms the effectiveness of incorporating static structure factors into energy loss calculations and demonstrates the model's high accuracy and broad applicability across regimes ranging from weakly to strongly coupled plasmas.
