Abstract
Microphone array (MA) beamforming has the advantage of concerning the steerable beampattern at certain sound location while suppressing the surrounding noise, third-party or non-directional noise sources. MA exploits the designed MA geometry, the preferred transfer function, the characteristics of surrounding noise and incorporating with other different single-channel signal processing techniques for obtaining noise reduction and speech enhancement at the same time. In this article, the author proposed using the beamformer’s properties - based post-Filtering for enhancing multi-channel system’s performance under realistic recording environment. The numerical simulation has shown the effectiveness of suggested post-Filtering
in suppressing the background noise level to 10.9 dB and increasing the speech quality in the term of signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio from 7.2 to 9.5 dB. This approach can be implemented into
various types of speech applications for resolving complicated problems, such as, speech recognition, voice-controlled device.
