ABSTRACT

This paper reviews how Korean Americans view autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

differently from non-Korean groups. The study was conducted among Korean American

and non-Korean groups to describe their perceptions toward ASD and their thoughts

about resources and treatments. The paper strongly argues there are not available

resources for Korean American communities, although more people are becoming

familiar with the disorder. Culturally informed resources on ASD and treatments are

vital to increase more awareness and also to decrease social stigma that may hinder the

process of receiving appropriate treatments.
